The meeting focused on the region’s socio economic development and priority tasks for 2026, covering agriculture, tourism, housing, education, and youth support.
Agricultural development was a key topic of discussion. This year, authorities plan to expand the use of foreign cotton varieties and introduce the advanced 76×10 planting scheme to increase yields. In addition, 472 units of new agricultural machinery are set to be purchased.
Some 2,000 hectares of low yielding old orchards will be converted into intensive gardens, while 6,800 hectares of land will be returned to agricultural circulation.
As part of a new approach, specialized household farming schools will be established in several districts – floriculture in Altinkul, seedling cultivation in Izbaskan, greenhouse farming in Asaka, vegetable growing in Kurgantepa, and viticulture in Bulakbashi.
In 2025, Andijan region hosted 460,000 foreign tourists and 1.8 million domestic visitors. This year, authorities aim to increase the number of foreign tourists to 700,000 and domestic tourists to 2.5 million.
To support this goal, a dedicated directorate will be created to manage the development of tourist centers in Shirmonbulok in Bulakbashi district, Imam Ota in Khojaabad district, and the tourist zone in Khanabad.
Commercial, entertainment, and recreational facilities will also be developed in 91 neighborhoods connected to the central streets of cities and districts.
The housing issue was highlighted as particularly urgent for Andijan city. This year, 54 apartment buildings are planned in the Yangi Uzbekistan residential area, along with 158 additional multi apartment buildings in other locations.
The introduction of a ready to build land system is expected to reduce the project launch period from 120 to 30 days. A pilot modern housing project based on this model will begin in Jalakuduk district.
The region is home to 11 higher education institutions with more than 94,000 students, while 56 technical colleges train 46,000 learners. Measures have been identified to strengthen the scientific potential of universities and expand dual education coverage.
The meeting also supported an initiative to involve advanced private educational institutions in teaching foreign languages at medical colleges and to facilitate the annual employment of more than 4,000 young people in European countries.
To support youth initiatives, it was proposed to allocate subsidies of up to UZS 41 million from the Youth Notebook fund to talented children from families not included in the social register. The funds will be directed toward projects in sports, culture, and the arts. The president instructed that this mechanism be introduced starting with Andijan region.
Concluding the meeting, President Mirziyoyev emphasized that implementation of the planned measures must lead to concrete and tangible improvements in the lives of Andijan residents. He issued corresponding instructions to responsible officials to ensure effective execution of the outlined tasks.
