Uzbekistan records new March electricity consumption record

Uzbekistan’s power system recorded a new March record for electricity consumption and peak load on March 11, 2026.

According to the Ministry of Energy, daily electricity consumption across the country reached 267 million kWh, exceeding the figure recorded during the same period last year by 14 million kWh.

The energy system also registered a new peak load during evening hours of high demand. At 18:12, the maximum load reached 12,680 MW, which is 480 MW higher than the previous March record.

Officials say the increase reflects growing electricity demand across the country.

On the same day, power plants across Uzbekistan generated a total of 272 million kWh of electricity.

This represents an increase of 12 million kWh compared with electricity production during the same period in March 2025.

The Ministry of Energy also noted a growing contribution from renewable energy sources.

According to official data, 20.9 percent of the electricity generated that day came from renewable energy sources. Of that amount, solar and wind power plants accounted for 14.3 percent of total generation.

The ministry added that during daylight hours, the contribution of solar and wind power stations to the electricity balance rose to as much as 35 percent, highlighting the increasing role of renewable energy in meeting demand.
