EV sales in Uzbekistan grow 1.5 times year-on-year
Uzbekistan’s automotive market continues to expand, with electric vehicles gaining momentum and overall vehicle sales increasing compared with last year.
According to the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, the total volume of sales for all types of motor vehicles in Uzbekistan reached 84,200 units in February 2026, marking a 6.4 percent increase year-on-year.
Market activity also showed positive monthly dynamics. Compared with January, vehicle sales increased by 2 percent, or approximately 1,600 units.
Regional trends varied significantly. The most notable growth was recorded in Samarkand region, where sales surged by 65 percent. Strong increases were also observed in Syrdarya region with a 7.2 percent rise and Tashkent region with 12 percent growth.
New car segment
In February 2026, sales of new domestically produced vehicles reached approximately 24,000 units, remaining largely at the same level as in January. However, compared with February 2025, the segment recorded a 10.7 percent increase.
The new imported car segment demonstrated even stronger growth. Sales rose 1.5 times year-on-year, reaching around 3,000 units in February.
Electric vehicle segment
The passenger electric vehicle segment continues to demonstrate steady expansion in Uzbekistan’s automotive market.
In February, EV sales totaled 6,900 units, representing a 14 percent increase compared with January.
On an annual basis, electric vehicle sales have grown 1.5 times, highlighting the rapid expansion of this market segment and increasing consumer interest in electric mobility.
Regional distribution indicates that the majority of EV sales are concentrated in Tashkent city. In February alone, approximately 4,500 electric vehicles were sold in the capital, accounting for about 65 percent of total EV sales nationwide. This means that 65 out of every 100 electric vehicles sold in Uzbekistan were purchased in Tashkent.
