Muzaffar Komilov appointed head of Religious Affairs Department in Presidential Administration
Muzaffar Komilov has been appointed head of the Department for Religious and Educational Affairs within the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan.
In connection with the appointment, Komilov has been relieved of his previous position as deputy adviser to the president on cooperation with representative bodies, non-governmental non-profit organizations, religion, and youth issues.
Komilov is considered a specialist with extensive experience in public administration, religious and educational affairs, and the education system.
During his career, he has held several senior positions in government institutions. In particular, he previously served as first deputy chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.
He also worked as a department head within the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of Uzbekistan system.
In addition to his government service, Komilov has held senior academic positions. He served as vice rector at both Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies and Tashkent State University of Economics.
Since 2022, he has also worked as an adviser to the president of Uzbekistan on cooperation with public and religious organizations.
Komilov additionally served as rector of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, where he oversaw initiatives in religious education and academic research.
