Tashkent transport inspectors crack down on fare dodgers in citywide bus raids
Transport authorities in Tashkent have launched a sweeping crackdown on fare evasion, conducting raids across the city’s bus network to combat the growing issue of passengers traveling without paying via card or QR code.
In a single day of enforcement, transport inspectors issued 4,781 administrative citations. This brings the total number of fines recorded since the start of 2026 to 26,564, according to official data.
Authorities confirmed the enforcement action is being carried out under Article 144, Part 5, of the Administrative Responsibility Code.
These enforcement efforts follow recent data showing a significant rise in transit earnings. In 2025, Tashkent’s bus revenue reached UZS 644 billion, a 16.2% increase over the UZS 554.4 billion recorded in 2024.
