Uzbekistan and IAEA discuss prospects for peaceful nuclear energy cooperation
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Iboragimov, held a high-level meeting with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, to discuss the current state and future prospects of cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy.
According to the Dunyo Information Agency, the meeting highlighted the steady development of bilateral relations and a shared interest in further expanding their partnership.
During the dialogue, the IAEA chief expressed high regard for the ongoing reforms and projects being implemented in Uzbekistan within the nuclear energy sector. Rafael Grossi voiced his full support for the country’s consistent efforts in this direction, noting that Uzbekistan’s approach aligns with international standards for safety and efficiency.
A central theme of the discussions was the development of human capital and the strengthening of national professional capacity. Both parties emphasized the importance of training high-level Uzbek specialists to manage nuclear infrastructure and increasing their participation in the activities of international organizations. This collaborative focus is intended to ensure that Uzbekistan possesses a robust pool of experts capable of overseeing long-term nuclear energy initiatives.
The meeting concluded with a mutual confirmation of readiness to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and implement joint initiatives.
