Uzbekistan to impose new service restrictions on alimony debtors starting May 2026
Uzbekistan is set to implement a more stringent system for the collection of alimony payments aimed at enhancing the protection of children's interests. According to a presidential decree, individuals with outstanding alimony debts will face a range of new administrative restrictions until their obligations are fully met.

The decree, titled "On additional measures to digitalize and increase the efficiency of the system for the execution of judicial acts and acts of other bodies," stipulates that these measures will come into effect on May 1, 2026. Under the new regulations, debtors will be barred from engaging in specific high-value transactions and may face limited access to certain financial, credit, and government services as long as the debt remains unpaid.
The reform also introduces several procedural changes to the enforcement process. Notably, the decree establishes a mechanism whereby enforcement proceedings can be terminated by a state executor's decision in the event of the debtor's death or if they are officially declared missing.
Furthermore, the responsibility for handling enforcement documents related to problematic loans will be reassigned to specialized state executors. This shift is intended to streamline the recovery process and ensure that complex financial claims are handled with greater expertise.
