Uzbekistan’s Consulate warns citizens in Turkey over fraud risks and safety concerns

Uzbekistan’s Consulate General in Istanbul has urged Uzbek citizens staying in Turkey to follow safety precautions and remain alert to potential fraud.

The consulate advised citizens to avoid suspicious situations that could endanger their health or safety, refrain from attending public gatherings and demonstrations, and exercise increased vigilance in crowded places.

The statement also warned of scammers offering to arrange residence documents in Turkey for a fee, promising high-paying jobs, or claiming they can secure visas to the United States and European countries.

The mission further called on citizens, particularly women and those traveling alone, to avoid using unlicensed taxi services.

The consulate also reminded citizens that if they or their relatives are detained by local law enforcement, have their freedom restricted, or face charges, they have the right to request legal representation, notify relatives by phone, or contact the Consulate General, and urged them to immediately contact the police in serious or emergency situations.
