The agreement was finalized on April 18 in Antalya, where a Joint Communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations was signed by representatives of both governments. The document was inked by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda, Olivier Nduhungirehe.
In addition to the primary communique, the two nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at creating a mechanism for regular political consultations. This secondary agreement is designed to provide a structured framework for ongoing dialogue and to identify specific areas of mutual interest for future partnership.
Following the signing ceremony, Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov emphasized the strategic importance of this new connection. He noted that the move is a significant step forward in Uzbekistan’s broader foreign policy goal of enhancing cooperation with nations across the African continent.
Rwanda has become the 167th country to establish diplomatic ties with Uzbekistan.
