Authorities fine 11 CNG stations in Samarkand region over price-fixing
Authorities have fined 11 CNG stations in Payarik district of Samarkand region after uncovering coordinated increases in compressed natural gas prices.
The investigation was launched following complaints from residents about unjustified price hikes at CNG stations and discrepancies with neighboring districts.
Monitoring and consumer surveys showed that, from January 5, 11 of the district’s 12 stations raised prices in tandem by an average of UZS 300 per cubic meter.
The stations are operated by eight companies, including Temur-Bek, Sadaf Agro Service, and Jahongir Prestige.
Prices in nearby districts remained stable over the same period, reinforcing evidence of irregularities in Payarik.
Following the probe, authorities opened cases under Article 19 of the Law on Competition, citing coordinated anti-competitive practices.
