Nearly UZS 64 trillion worth of construction work was completed in the first quarter.
Construction volumes in January-March rose steadily from UZS 24,161.6 billion in 2022 to UZS 27,602.0 billion in 2023 and UZS 31,058.8 billion in 2024, before jumping to UZS 52,896.3 billion in 2025 and reaching UZS 63,954.7 billion in 2026.
Separately, Uzbekistan will introduce mandatory environmental standards for construction sites from June 1 under a presidential decree.
The rules require developers to install background monitoring stations linked to a unified geoinformation database, as well as perimeter and exit-point cameras for real-time oversight. Individual housing projects are exempt.
The decree also mandates environmental clearance during project reviews and provides for penalties, including lower contractor ratings on the “Transparent Construction” platform for violations.
For new buildings taller than 12 meters or larger than 500 square meters, at least 30% of the site must be landscaped, except in renovation projects.
Authorities plan to pilot a system for collecting and composting fallen leaves on areas of at least one hectare by December 2026, and to develop a long-term environmental and water management master plan for Tashkent through 2035 with foreign partners.
