How to get a Hong Kong visa for citizens of Uzbekistan
Many people assume that a China visa also allows entry to Hong Kong. This is not the case. Hong Kong is a separate administrative region with its own immigration system. The visa-free regime with China, which came into force on June 1, 2025, does not apply to Hong Kong.

This guide explains everything you need to know to get a Hong Kong visa: where to apply, which documents to prepare, how to fill out the application form correctly, and how much it costs.
Do citizens of Uzbekistan need a visa to Hong Kong
Yes, citizens of Uzbekistan need a visa to enter Hong Kong, according to the rules of the Immigration Department of Hong Kong. Uzbekistan is on the list of countries whose citizens must obtain a visa.
There are three key points people often confuse:
- Hong Kong operates under a separate immigration system and is not part of mainland China’s visa regime. Although it is part of China, entry rules are different.
- A mainland China visa does not grant entry to Hong Kong — these are separate visas.
- The visa-free agreement between Uzbekistan and China, effective from June 1, 2025, applies only to mainland China and does not cover Hong Kong or Macau.
- There is no electronic visa (e-visa) for Uzbek citizens — applications must be submitted in person through a visa center in Tashkent.
Types of Hong Kong visas
The type of visa depends on the purpose of travel:
- Tourist visa — for sightseeing and short stays
- Transit visa — if Hong Kong is a stopover
- Business visa — for meetings, exhibitions, and business trips
- Student visa — for short- or long-term study
- Work visa — for official employment
This article focuses on the tourist visa, which is the most common option for citizens of Uzbekistan.
Required documents
To apply for a Hong Kong visa, you need a complete set of documents. If even one document is missing, your application will not be accepted.
Required documents:
- passport (valid for at least 6 months);
- 2 photos (4×5 cm, light background);
- completed application form;
- round-trip flight booking;
- hotel reservation for the entire stay;
- copy of passport (photo page);
- copy of ID card or internal passport.
All documents must match in dates and details. For business trips, you also need an invitation letter from the host company and proof of participation in the event.
How to apply for a Hong Kong visa
Applications are submitted through the Visa for China Application Service Center in Tashkent. The center collects documents and forwards them to the embassy, which makes the final decision.
Online application (e-visa) is not available for Uzbek citizens, so you must apply in person.
Application process:
- prepare all documents;
- visit the visa center;
- submit your documents;
- pay the fee.
Visa centers operate Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00. They are closed on official Chinese holidays.
How to fill out the Hong Kong visa application form
Form ID 1003A is the main document in the application package. It is checked first: any mistakes or inconsistencies with other documents will result in rejection.
The form must be completed in uppercase Latin letters, without abbreviations, exactly as in your passport. It consists of 5 pages and several sections.
Section 1 — Personal Particulars
Your name and surname must match your passport exactly, letter by letter.
If your passport says ABDULLAEV, writing ABDULLAYEV will be considered an error.
You also need to provide:
- date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY);
- place of birth;
- gender;
- marital status;
- passport number, issue date, and expiry date;
- current address and contacts.
Attach a 50×40 mm photo in the designated space.
Section 2 — Employment and income
Provide your current job, employer name and address, position, and monthly income. This section is required to assess financial stability.
If unemployed, write “unemployed”. Students should write “student” and indicate their institution.
Section 3 — Details of Proposed Stay
This is the key section. The information here must match your tickets and bookings.
You need to specify:
- entry date;
- duration of stay;
- type of visit (usually single entry);
- accommodation address in Hong Kong;
- flight details.
Dates must fully match your tickets.
Section 4 — Purpose of Visit
Choose one option:
- tourism (leisure visit);
- transit;
- business;
- visiting relatives;
- other.
For tourism, briefly describe your itinerary and places you plan to visit.
Section 5 — Additional information
Complete this section only if you have a sponsor, business invitation, or relatives in Hong Kong.
If traveling independently, write: No sponsor, self-funded trip.
Section 6 — Declaration and signature
Confirm that all information is accurate, add the date, and sign the form. Unsigned forms will not be accepted.
Processing time and cost
Visa processing usually takes 4–7 working days, but in some cases it may take longer.
The total cost includes:
- visa center service fee — 810,000 UZS;
- additional services (paid separately).
It is recommended to apply in advance, allowing time for document preparation and possible corrections.
Reasons for visa refusal
Most refusals occur due to formal errors that can be fixed before submission:
- mismatch in dates (application vs. tickets);
- spelling errors in name;
- incomplete document package;
- missing signature;
- mismatch in hotel address.
In most cases, you can fix the issue and reapply. It is better to check everything before visiting the visa center.
