Traffic police report 170 child transport violations in 12 days
Between May 1 and May 12, traffic police in Uzbekistan recorded 170 violations involving the transportation of children.

According to Zoir Yuldashev, spokesperson for the Road Safety Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, all cases involved drivers exceeding the legal passenger limit. Authorities said 3,872 children under the age of seven were transported in the 170 vehicles, an average of about 23 per vehicle.
In Syrdarya region, officers stopped a driver with a previously revoked license who was transporting 23 children in a Damas minibus.
In Namangan region, police intercepted a Damas traveling in the wrong lane. The driver did not have a valid license, and officers found 18 children in the vehicle. Authorities reported that a kindergarten director later assaulted and insulted traffic officers during the inquiry.
Earlier in Bukhara region, police reported that a drunk driver transporting 40 children in an Isuzu bus ignored officers’ orders to stop.
In a separate incident in Navoi region, a Matiz carrying 14 children overturned, resulting in the death of the driver, a kindergarten director without a driving license. A three-month-old infant was among the passengers. Doctors hospitalized the injured children, whose injuries varied in severity.
