Abdukodir Khusanov makes FA Cup best XI and short-list for Manchester City player of the year

Uzbekistan national team defender Abdukodir Khusanov has earned a spot in the FA Cup Team of the Season, compiled by the statistics portal Sofascore. Khusanov’s consistent performances throughout the tournament earned him an average rating of 7.32.

The seasonal lineup is heavily dominated by players from Chelsea and the tournament champions, Manchester City. The highest individual ratings in the symbolic team went to Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who scored 7.74, and Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri, who secured a 7.73 rating.

The rest of the prestigious XI features a backline of Perri in goal, alongside defenders Adarabioyo, Khusanov, and Marc Guehi. The midfield is composed of Andrey Santos, Nico Gonzalez, Jeremy Doku, Enzo Fernandez, Pedro Neto, and Antoine Semenyo, supporting central striker Erling Haaland. Manchester City secured the FA Cup trophy this season by defeating Chelsea 1–0 in the final, courtesy of a 72nd-minute strike from Semenyo.

In addition to his tournament honors, Khusanov has been announced as one of the final three nominees for Manchester City’s Player of the Season award. The Uzbek defender joins English midfielder Nico O'Reilly and Belgian winger Jeremy Doku on the short-list.

While the initial voting pool included the entire first-team squad, fans narrowed the choices down to Khusanov, O'Reilly, and Doku. Khusanov’s nomination follows a highly successful campaign during which he was voted the club's Player of the Month on three separate occasions – February 2025, January 2026, and March 2026. Voting for the final seasonal award remains open to fans on the official Manchester City website.
