China ranks Uzbekistan among top five pipeline gas suppliers for early 2026
Uzbekistan supplied $46 million worth of natural gas to China via pipeline during the first four months of 2026, positioning itself among the top regional energy providers to the Chinese market.
According to data released by the General Administration of Customs of China, Beijing relies on a selective group of international partners to meet its domestic pipeline gas requirements. Russia secured the leading position during the January–April period, delivering gas valued at $3 billion. Turkmenistan ranked as the second-largest pipeline supplier with exports totaling $2.59 billion.
The remaining top five pipeline exporters to China during this timeframe included Myanmar in third place with $514 million, followed by Kazakhstan with $184 million, and Uzbekistan rounding out the group.
In the separate seaborne liquefied natural gas (LNG) import market, China maintained a highly diversified network of global suppliers. Australia remained the dominant exporter, shipping up to 5.35 million tons annually. Qatar followed as the second-largest supplier with 4.35 million tons, while Malaysia occupied the third spot at 2.3 million tons. Russia held the fourth position in LNG deliveries with 2.02 million tons, and Indonesia completed the top five with 974,000 tons.
