The extended operations took effect on May 20, 2026, across the Batken region section of the international boundary. According to media reports citing the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, the change applies specifically to the Kadamjay–Avtodorozhny, Chechme–Avtodorozhny, and Ak-Kyya–Avtodorozhny border crossing points.
Border officials clarified that the continuous operational schedule was introduced to enhance convenience for travelers during the peak summer tourism season. By keeping the gates open overnight, authorities aim to increase the overall throughput capacity of the border infrastructure, thereby reducing potential congestion and waiting times during high-traffic periods.
However, specific regulatory restrictions remain in place for these locations. Border control authorities emphasized that transit through these three specialized checkpoints is exclusively permitted for citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. Third-country nationals wishing to cross between the two nations must continue to utilize designated international border crossings.
The temporary round-the-clock regime is scheduled to remain in effect throughout the warm season, with the checkpoints reverting to their standard operating hours on October 1, 2026.
