Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan sign comprehensive roadmap for trade and economic cooperation
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have formalized a major action plan to boost their trade and investment relations during a high-level diplomatic gathering in Astana. On May 29, 2026, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev witnessed the signing ceremony of a practical roadmap designed to implement previous commercial and investment agreements between the two nations.
The newly signed roadmap outlines the execution of joint initiatives across a broad spectrum of economic fields. Key sectors targeted for cooperative projects include automotive manufacturing, energy, chemical industry, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, logistics, construction materials, housing construction, and agriculture.

This comprehensive document serves to fulfill the direct agreements established during previous meetings between the two heads of state held in Bukhara and Turkistan in April and May of this year. Those regional summits laid the groundwork for expanding trade corridors and mutual investments, which the newly approved roadmap will now translate into operational projects.

Following the conclusion of the official working visit, President Mirziyoyev departed from Astana International Airport to return to Tashkent. The Uzbek leader was escorted at the airport by Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, alongside other senior government officials.
