Saida Mirziyoyeva discusses cooperation with Austrian parliamentary leaders and UN officials
Saida Mirziyoyeva, the Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, held high-level meetings in Vienna on June 1 to discuss expanding cooperation across mutually beneficial areas with top Austrian parliamentary leaders and United Nations officials.
During her visit, Mirziyoyeva met with Markus Stotter, the President of the Federal Council of Austria, and Walter Rosenkranz, the President of the National Council. Their discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations between the two countries. Special attention was given to the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, particularly in democratizing society and modernizing public administration.

Mirziyoyeva also held talks with Monica Juma, the newly appointed Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The dialogue centered on Uzbekistan’s active partnership with UNODC, specifically in countering global drug threats and reviewing the progress made since the Samarkand International Forum on this global issue, which took place in April 2026. Mirziyoyeva expressed her gratitude to Monica Juma for supporting an Uzbek side event focused on the protection of women, children, and youth. Uzbekistan hosted this event within the framework of the 35th session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention.

Concluding her remarks on the meetings, Mirziyoyeva reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s readiness to further deepen its partnership with UNODC to advance security, justice, and sustainable development.
