Uzbekistan rolls out major tourism drive with subsidies, tax refunds, and influencer campaigns
Uzbekistan will launch an annual Open Tourism Season program running from June to August each year, introducing financial incentives, subsidies, and promotional campaigns to attract international visitors. Under a newly approved presidential decree, the state will implement several financial support mechanisms starting June 1, 2026, to stimulate travel and expand international flight networks.
Domestic and foreign airlines establishing new routes to Uzbekistan will receive state budget allocations to cover part of their operational expenses. Specifically, the government will award a subsidy of $100 for each foreign tourist brought into the country.
Local tour operators are also set to benefit from the new regulations. Companies registered as residents in Uzbekistan will receive a $5,000 subsidy for every 1,000 foreign tourists they bring from target countries. In addition, tour operators and hospitality businesses will receive a 50% value-added tax (VAT) refund distributed as cashback.
As part of its digital marketing drive, the government will offer fully funded, seven-day travel packages to 50 prominent international bloggers and social media influencers, targeting individuals who command a following of over 5 million subscribers each. Furthermore, the state will cover promotion and advertising costs aimed at showcasing travel destinations across Uzbekistan on major global online travel platforms.
