Woman gives birth to quintuplets in Andijan
A woman in Andijan region has given birth to quintuplets, with both the mother and all five newborns reported to be in good condition, according to the Ministry of Health.
The rare delivery took place on July 6 at Maternity Complex No. 2 in the city of Andijan. The mother, Nargiza Bekjonova, a resident of the Qayragochtosh neighborhood, was admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with a multiple pregnancy, the ministry's press service said.
Doctors performed a cesarean section after diagnosing preterm labor. The delivery was successfully carried out under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of obstetricians, gynecologists, neonatologists, and intensive care specialists.
The quintuplets include three girls and two boys. Their birth weights were as follows: the first baby, a girl, weighed 1,450 grams; the second, a boy, 1,605 grams; the third, a girl, 1,495 grams; the fourth, a boy, 1,585 grams; and the fifth, a girl, 1,205 grams.
To ensure they receive specialized medical care, the mother and her babies were transferred to the Andijan Regional Branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health.
"At present, all five newborns and their mother are in good health and remain under the supervision of qualified medical professionals," the ministry's press service said.
The birth follows another rare multiple delivery in the region. In June, quadruplets were born at the same regional branch of the specialized maternal and child health center in Andijan.
