Muzaffar Komilov appointed presidential adviser on religious and educational affairs
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has appointed Muzaffar Komilov as presidential adviser on religious and educational affairs. Before his appointment, Komilov served as head of the Department for Religious and Educational Affairs within the Presidential Administration, a position he had held since March 2026.
Komilov has extensive experience in public administration, religious affairs and higher education. Over the course of his career, he has held a number of senior government and academic positions, including First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers.
He also served as a department head within the former Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education and held vice rector positions at the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies and Tashkent State University of Economics.
From 2022, Komilov served as the president's adviser on cooperation with public and religious organizations.
He also headed the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan as rector, overseeing the institution's activities in religious education and academic research.
