Nearly 13,000 applicants exempted from university entrance exams

Nearly 13,000 university applicants have been exempted from entrance examinations for the 2026–2027 academic year after presenting recognized national or international certificates, according to the Agency for the Assessment of Knowledge and Qualifications.

The agency said a total of 677,907 applicants completed online registration for this year’s admissions. Of them, 451,744, or 66.6%, are current secondary school graduates, while 226,163, or 33.4%, graduated in previous years.

Women account for 365,196 applicants, or 53.9% of the total, while men make up 312,711, or 46.1%. Overall, 664,609 applicants are expected to sit the entrance examinations.

During the registration process, the agency verified international certificates uploaded by applicants, confirming the validity of 24,526 certificates.

The registration data also show that 193,186 applicants hold national or international certificates in general education subjects, while 125,354 possess certificates in foreign languages.

This year, 12,997 applicants who submitted recognized national or international certificates covering all required subjects have been exempted from the entrance examinations and advanced directly to the competition stage. By comparison, only 678 applicants received the same exemption during the 2025 admissions cycle.

The entrance examinations will be conducted over a period of 10 days.
