According to the inspectorate, the directive sets out mandatory occupational safety requirements aimed at protecting the life and health of employees performing outdoor work under abnormally high temperatures.
The document requires the temporary suspension of work that could endanger workers' health between 10:00 and 17:00, when temperatures are at their highest. It also instructs local authorities to introduce flexible working hours and ensure that employees have continuous access to sufficient supplies of safe drinking water.
The directive further requires employers to provide shaded rest areas protected from direct sunlight and excessive heat, supply workers with appropriate personal protective equipment, and revise work and rest schedules in line with weather conditions.
In addition, employees who have not undergone mandatory medical examinations or have been deemed medically unfit must not be allowed to work.
The State Labor Inspectorate said compliance with the directive will be monitored by the agency.
Officials also warned that individuals found to have violated occupational health and safety requirements will be held accountable in accordance with the law.
