The Office of the Commissioner for the Protection of Rights and Legitimate Interests of Entrepreneurs under the President of Uzbekistan said the measures were based on cases involving infringements of entrepreneurs’ rights.
Administrative offense reports accounted for the largest share of the actions, with 865 protocols drawn up. The Business Ombudsman also issued 185 legal opinions, submitted 138 official representations, sent 85 notifications, and filed 98 lawsuits and protests. The total value of the claims reached UZS 24.1 billion.
As a result of the proceedings, 25 unlawful decisions and official documents were revoked. The office also helped entrepreneurs recover UZS 13.3 billion and secured the cancellation of an additional UZS 11.5 billion in outstanding liabilities.
The measures resulted in 785 officials being held administratively liable. Criminal cases were opened against five individuals, while another 40 officials faced disciplinary action.
Alongside handling complaints from entrepreneurs, the Business Ombudsman continued work on improving the legal framework for business. During the first six months of the year, the office drafted nine legislative and regulatory proposals, including four draft laws, two draft presidential decrees, and three draft Cabinet of Ministers resolutions.
It also reviewed 349 draft regulatory documents and prepared 11 analytical and information reports.
