Uzbekistan will reduce electricity charges for large consumers during daytime hours under a revised tariff system introduced in line with a presidential decree.

Under the new rules, consumers in tariff group I will receive a 1.5-fold reduction coefficient on the base electricity tariff during the semi-peak period from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This means the rate during those hours will fall from the current UZS 1,100 to UZS 733 per kilowatt-hour.

The base tariff will remain in effect during the night period, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

The revised system is intended to support businesses by giving them more favorable conditions for using electricity during the daytime and creating additional opportunities to increase production, according to the authorities.

Tariff group I covers large consumers with a connected capacity of 750 kWh or more for both primary and backup electricity supply.
