The victims were killed on August 10 during a Ukrainian drone attack on Nizhnekamsk. Their bodies were transported to Uzbekistan on August 12, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirming their arrival.
According to the Migration Agency, the Tatarstan authorities covered the costs of the funeral services. The Ministry of Defense provided an aircraft to transport the bodies to Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said all matters related to the incident, including assistance to affected Uzbek citizens, remain under the government’s supervision and are being handled in coordination with the Russian side.
The victims had been working as construction workers for a construction company, according to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations. Several other Uzbek citizens were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity following the attack.
Following an order from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a government commission was established under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Achilbay Ramatov. The commission was tasked with assisting those affected, arranging the repatriation of the victims’ bodies and supporting their families.
A special working group comprising representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Migration Agency and other government bodies was also sent to Tatarstan. The group arrived in Nizhnekamsk on August 11 to assist affected Uzbek citizens and coordinate the repatriation process.
