The existing buildings on the site will be preserved and reconstructed to house educational, creative and public spaces as part of a planned Youth Town, according to information released about the project.
Once the buildings have been vacated, the majority of the site is expected to become an open green space accessible to residents of nearby neighborhoods and other city residents.
Officials said the Youth Town would not replace the park or reduce the amount of green space. Instead, educational and creative centers, a library, co-working spaces, simulation workshops and start-up studios will be located inside the existing buildings, which will be renovated and adapted for their new functions.
The project does not envisage the construction of business offices or other commercial facilities on the site. The areas surrounding the buildings will also be landscaped and planted with greenery.
Under the plans, most of the 4.36-hectare territory will be allocated to the public park, while the existing buildings will become part of the Youth Town and serve educational, creative and other public purposes.
Authorities have also released renderings and excerpts from the presentation of the proposed development. They said they were ready to answer residents’ questions and discuss the project, stressing that the site should remain green and accessible to the public.
