The plans were discussed at an Uzbekistan–Tajikistan pharmaceutical business forum, where Abdulla Azizov, director of Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, met a Tajik delegation headed by Yusufi Salomuddin, first deputy minister of health and social protection of the population, the agency’s press service said.
Representatives of pharmaceutical companies from the two countries reviewed the state of their respective industries and discussed areas for expanding business ties.
The talks focused on setting up joint manufacturing, localizing the production of medicines and medical equipment, increasing pharmaceutical exports and attracting investment into joint projects.
The forum also featured business-to-business meetings between Uzbek manufacturers and Tajik companies. Participants discussed supplying Uzbek pharmaceutical products to the Tajik market, expanding bilateral trade, transferring production technologies and setting up joint manufacturing facilities.
The two sides agreed to continue direct talks between companies and work on specific projects aimed at expanding pharmaceutical production and trade between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
