The presentation focused on introducing new-generation textbooks, expanding dual education through partnerships between universities and businesses, and launching a branch of Liaoning Normal University in Uzbekistan.
The review found that some existing textbooks contained material unsuitable for students’ age groups, while some topics were presented in overly complicated ways. The emphasis on memorization was also found to provide insufficient opportunities for students to develop independent analytical skills and apply what they had learned in real-life situations.
The new textbooks are being developed with international experience in mind. Primary school textbooks have undergone certification by the Finland Education Alliance, while mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology textbooks for grades 5–7 have been developed based on Singapore’s textbook system.
Under the new approach, learning outcomes will be defined for each grade, specifying what students should know and be able to do by the end of the academic year. Educational standards, curricula, textbooks and assessment methods will be developed as an integrated system, with greater attention to age-appropriate content, logical progression and the practical application of knowledge.
A total of 1,342 textbooks and teaching materials are planned to be prepared by 2027.
Career guidance will also be incorporated into the new materials. Some 255 lessons have been developed to help students identify their interests and make more informed career choices. Textbook characters will also be used to introduce values such as friendship, responsibility, courage and respect through examples relevant to children.
More than 300 topics will focus on environmental literacy, covering issues such as water conservation, protecting nature and the responsible use of natural resources. Financial literacy materials will teach students about counting, saving and managing money and planning purchases, while digital literacy lessons will address safe and productive internet use.
