The ministry’s press service issued the clarification in response to reports that 290 suspected measles cases had been recorded in Tashkent and more than 10,000 people who had been in contact with patients had been identified.
The figures circulating on social media cover the cumulative total for the first nine months of 2026, rather than cases identified over a short period or the current situation, the ministry said.
“Currently, the epidemiological situation regarding measles in Tashkent and throughout the country is stable. There is no reason for concern,” the statement said.
The Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health urged social media users not to misinterpret the figures.
The ministry also provided vaccination data for the capital. During the first nine months of 2026, 47,494 one-year-old children and 42,767 six-year-old children in Tashkent received the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine as part of the routine immunization program.
