The measure is expected to save eligible families UZS 6–7 million a year, according to the president. Tax authorities will introduce a system to automatically refund the relevant tax payments at the end of each month.

The announcement came at Mirziyoyev’s meeting with teachers and education mentors, where he also outlined new financial incentives for opening private schools in districts facing high demand for school places.

New support for private schools

Some 800,000 children started first grade in 2026, 10% more than a year earlier, according to figures presented at the meeting. The number is expected to reach 1 million by 2030, while investment programs are adding 180,000–200,000 new student places each year.

To expand private-school capacity in 52 districts facing high demand for school places, the president announced a package of financial incentives.

Private schools established in these districts will be eligible for preferential loans at an annual interest rate of 10%, with a seven-year repayment period. They will also be eligible for subsidies covering up to 15% of the cost of opening and equipping a school, capped at UZS 1.5 billion.

Property owners who lease buildings to schools will be exempt from land and property taxes.

Across the country, vacant state-owned buildings will be made available to private schools under free leases for up to 10 years.

The state will also cover half the cost of obtaining international accreditation for private schools.
