Fergana region Governor Khayrullo Bozorov met with the company delegation on October 8, the regional administration said.
The talks focused on proposals from the Japanese side to launch silk production and expand cooperation in the sector.
Representatives of Trust Engineering Partners expressed interest in starting operations in Uzbekistan, particularly in Fergana region. The company proposed a project to develop sericulture and revive the country’s traditional silk industry.
The sides noted that the Fergana Valley has been located at a crossroads of the ancient Silk Road for centuries, with traditions of sericulture and silk production developing in the region over time.
Several projects are currently being implemented in Fergana region to develop the industry and establish new production facilities.
Bozorov said Fergana’s experience and existing potential in sericulture could be of interest to Japanese investors and pledged the region’s support for the proposed project.
The sides also discussed the possibility of implementing the project through a public-private partnership.
They agreed to continue assessing the region’s potential, develop a roadmap and establish a phased implementation plan for the project.
