Speaking at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States in Ankara, Mirziyoyev called for a multilateral agreement to facilitate travel between the countries.
He said the agreement should expand the use of ID cards for cross-border travel and simplify entry procedures and the rules governing citizens’ stays in host countries.
Mirziyoyev also called for the creation of a Turkic Tourism Alliance to jointly promote the region’s historical cities, natural attractions, cultural heritage and hospitality traditions.
“Our countries have enormous untapped tourism potential. In 2022 alone, more than 40 million foreign tourists visited our countries. It is time to establish a Turkic Tourism Alliance to jointly showcase the historical cities, unique nature, rich culture and hospitality traditions of Turkic peoples to the world,” he said.
