The government has approved regulations establishing procedures for assessing and compensating damage suffered by the public as a result of man-made emergencies.
Compensation funds will be established under the administrations of all districts and cities across the country. The amount of each payment will be determined by a special commission in coordination with regional economic and financial authorities.
The regulations provide for the following one-time payments:
Families of people killed: up to 500 base calculating amounts (BCAs), or UZS 220 million per family. The amount will be divided equally among the deceased's spouse, children, parents and dependents.
People who sustain serious injuries: up to 200 BCAs, or UZS 88 million.
People who sustain moderate injuries: up to 150 BCAs, or UZS 66 million.
People who sustain minor injuries: up to 100 BCAs, or UZS 44 million.
The compensation will be financed by legal entities or their officials found responsible for causing the emergency.
