The proposal is included in a draft decree approving a strategy for the integrated development of domestic passenger transport by rail, air and road through 2030. The document, prepared by the Ministry of Transport, has been submitted for public consultation, which will run until November 11.
Under the proposal, holders of electronic tickets for long-distance trains would be able to travel free of charge on suburban trains in the relevant area from 12 hours before the departure time indicated on their ticket until 12 hours after arriving at their destination.
The Ministry of Transport, together with Uzbekistan Railways and other responsible organizations, is expected to develop and introduce the procedure for providing the benefit by September 1, 2027.
The plan calls for integrating tariff systems and adapting railway operators’ information systems to enable the service.
The initiative is intended to make travel more convenient for passengers and improve connections between suburban and long-distance rail services.
