Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Belgium hold talks in Brussels
Yesterday, in Brussels, the delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by Acting FM Vladimir Norov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and Federal Cultural Institutions of Belgium, Hadja Lahbib.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the talks, the current state and prospects for the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Belgium were discussed. A positive assessment was given to the dynamics of the development of cooperation in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The importance of intensifying bilateral dialogue was noted, including through the organization of visits at various levels, holding inter-MFA consultations, mutual support of the parties within the framework of international organizations, etc.
The parties welcomed the fruitful results of the business mission of the Belgian business community to Uzbekistan, organized by the Walloon Agency for Export and Foreign Investment (AWEX) and the Flemish Investment and Trade Agency (FIT) in November 2021. However, untapped potential in trade and investment was noted.
The readiness of Uzbekistan and Belgium was expressed to intensify bilateral ties in all areas. An agreement was reached to study the issue of organizing the next round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries at the end of this year in Tashkent.
The head of the Belgian Foreign Ministry was informed about the essence and content of the amendments to the Constitution of Uzbekistan. It is indicated that the constitutional reform is carried out in an open and free, public discussion, taking into account the opinions and proposals of the public, the interests of all segments of the population, as well as the assessments of foreign experts.
