Government to allocate over 1 trillion UZS for Ramadan charity initiatives
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has held a meeting dedicated to strengthening social protection for vulnerable segments of the population during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. To implement various mercy and charity events, a total of UZS 1.05 trillion will be allocated through state and public funds.
The funding structure includes UZS 750 billion directed to the “Vaqf” Charitable Public Fund and UZS 300 billion provided through the National Agency for Social Protection. These funds are designated for one-time material assistance to low-income families, as well as covering the costs of medical treatment and surgical procedures for individuals with disabilities.
During the meeting held on February 16, the head of state emphasized that visiting the elderly, lonely, and needy citizens, and providing practical assistance to families in difficult situations, remains a noble national value.
The complex measures, organized under the slogan “Ramadan – a month of kindness, unity, and gratitude,” aim to provide a safety net for those in need. In addition to financial aid, the president highlighted the importance of supporting women and the younger generation, whom he referred to as the "educators of future generations," protecting them from the influence of destructive ideas through both spiritual and material support.

The President recalled his remarks from January regarding the attempts of radical and extremist ideologies to poison the minds of the youth via information technology. He reiterated that these challenges cannot be solved solely through punishments and prohibitions.
Instead, the new measures focus on:
- Socialization: Helping individuals who have fallen under the influence of alien ideologies to reintegrate into society.
- Individual support: Providing medical and psychological assistance tailored to the specific needs of families.
- Employment: Ensuring job security through vocational training and skills development.
To ensure the effectiveness of the initiative, President Mirziyoyev called for the creation of precise and transparent lists of needy families in every neighborhood. He strictly stipulated that assistance must be delivered equally and fairly, regardless of a citizen's religion, nationality, or social background.
Relevant government agencies have been instructed to establish strict oversight to ensure that every soum reaches its intended recipient without delay or bias.
