Academy of Sciences releases Ulugh Beg’s Zij in four languages
Scholars at the Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies under the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan have published Zij-i Ulugh Beg (Zij-i-Sultani) for the first time in Uzbek, Russian, English, and Chinese.

According to the press service of the Academy of Sciences, this historic work is the scientific legacy of the great 15th-century astronomer Mirzo Ulugh Beg (1394–1449), the grandson of Amir Temur, along with a group of scholars he led.
The work is divided into four parts:
– The first part is dedicated to chronology and calendars, including systems of timekeeping used by various peoples.
– The second covers spherical astronomy, mathematical geography, and includes astronomical and geographical tables.
– The third part focuses on planetary motion and stellar astronomy, featuring a catalog of 1,014 stars.
– The fourth part addresses astrology and includes descriptions of horoscopes.
