Students heading abroad for Work and Travel programs can take 15 million UZS interest-free loans

A new regulation will come into effect on May 15.

According to a government resolution, starting from May 15, 2025, interest-free loans will be provided to young students to cover travel and other expenses related to international Work and Travel programs.

The list of eligible countries includes EU member states, as well as South Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Each year, up to 2,000 students will be granted interest-free loans equivalent to 40 times the basic calculation unit (approximately 15 million UZS). Applications can be submitted via public service centers or through the online platform my.gov.uz.

The following documents must be attached to the application:

  • A valid visa;
  • An employment contract signed with a foreign employer;
  • If the loan is not repaid: proof of income of the guarantor (an individual) for the past 12 months, along with a written statement confirming their agreement to act as a guarantor (if applicable).

The regulation states that students are required to repay the loan within one month of returning from their international trip.

Once the annual quota of 2,000 approved applicants is reached, the acceptance of new applications will be suspended. Those who apply after the limit is reached will not automatically be carried over to the next year’s list and must reapply.
