Obid Khakimov replaces Ravshan Gulyamov as Presidential Adviser on Economic Policy

Presidential Adviser on Economic Development, Investment, and Foreign Trade Policy Ravshan Gulyamov has been relieved of his duties.

According to the presidential decree, Ravshan Gulyamov has been appointed Adviser to the President of Uzbekistan on Regional Development and, in connection with this appointment, dismissed from his previous position as Adviser to the President on Economic Policy.

Ravshan Gulyamov was born in 1968. He graduated from Tashkent State University in 1992 and from the Australian National University in 1998.

Career background:

  • 1992–2004 – various positions within the Central Bank of Uzbekistan
  • 2009 – First Deputy Minister of Finance
  • 2010 – Minister of Economy
  • 2017–2018 – Chairperson of the State Committee for Assistance to Privatized Enterprises and Development of Competition
  • 2018 – Head of the Department for Macroeconomic Analysis and Forecasting under the Cabinet of Ministers
  • 2019 – First Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry
  • 2019 – Adviser to the President on issues of economic development, investment, and foreign trade policy

His areas of expertise include macroeconomic policy, the financial and banking system, competition policy, investment, and foreign trade.

Obid Khakimov has been appointed Adviser to the President of Uzbekistan on Economic Policy. In connection with the new appointment, he has been relieved of his previous duties as Deputy Adviser to the President on Economic Policy and Director of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.

Aziz Magrupov has been appointed Deputy Adviser to the President on regional development and, accordingly, dismissed from his position as the President’s Special Representative for Foreign Investments.
