Uzbekistan to supply 900 million kWh of electricity to Kazakhstan in 2026

From March to December 2026, Uzbekistan will supply Kazakhstan with 900 million kWh of electricity. The agreement was reached during bilateral talks held in Cholpon-Ata, the press service of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy reported.

According to the ministry, this supply will help offset power shortages in Kazakhstan’s southern energy region during scheduled maintenance at power plants.

In addition, a trilateral meeting was held in Cholpon-Ata between the energy and water management authorities of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. The sides signed a number of protocols aimed at regulating the water–energy balance in the region.

Under the main document, Kyrgyzstan committed to releasing water from the Toktogul Reservoir in exchange for electricity supplies from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
