Heads of CIS border agencies met in Samarkand
The fifth regional meeting of the heads of border agencies of the CIS member states was attended by delegations of five border agencies of the Commonwealth: Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the coordination service of the CCBT.
During the meeting, the situation on the borders of the CIS member states with Afghanistan as well as its development trends in the near future was analyzed. In particular, an exchange of views took place on the situation in the northern border regions of Afghanistan.
The parties expressed concern over the increase in drug production in areas that are under the control of militants.

Within the framework of the meeting, specialists developed measures to counter the entry of persons, involved in international terrorist and extremist organizations, into the territory of the CIS member states.
Following the meeting, a relevant Protocol was signed, the recommendations of which will be considered at the next meeting of CCBT on April 16, 2020, in Yerevan.
