Foreigner attempts to buy smartphones for fake dollars in Tashkent

In Tashkent, a foreign citizen wanted to pay for smartphones with fake US dollars, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.  

“During the pre-investigation inspection conducted by the Tashkent city department, together with the SSS officers, on the basis of the appeal of citizen A. Kh., it was identified that a foreign citizen A. V. attempted to pay counterfeit US dollars in the amount of $3,000, while buying 3 pieces of Iphone Xs Max mobile phones,” the report of the law enforcement body reads.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Article 176 (manufacturing, sale of counterfeit money, excise stamps or securities) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. Investigative actions are underway.
