Public Education Department official in Syrdarya detained while receiving $1,400 in bribe

Public Education Department employee of the Boyovut district, Syrdarya region, A.Sh. was caught red-handed while receiving $1,400 and 300,000 soums in bribe.

Hayot Shamsuddinov, a spokesman for the Prosecutor General’s Office, confirmed to Kun.uz that A.Sh., abusing his official power, promised an LLC employee E.A. a “help” in winning the tender for reconstruction of a school building. The project was included in the development program of the district.

The public education official demanded $1,500 from the entrepreneur.

In the course of an operative event on February 13, A.Sh. was caught red-handed while receiving $1,400 and 300,000 soums from E.A. An investigation is currently underway.
