New head of the Presidential State Security Service appointed
A new chairman has been appointed to the State Security Service of the President.

According to Kun.uz source, Alisher Usmanov became the new head of the State Security Service of the President at the end of October.
Before his appointment, he had served as Deputy Chairman of the SSS. In 2007, he was awarded the “Shon-sharaf” order 2nd degree.
To note, at the end of October, the former Chairman of the State Security Service of the President, Bakhodir Toshmatov, was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Security Council.
The State Security Service of the President is authorized to carry out preliminary investigations in cases under its jurisdiction and to conduct checks to detect signs of a crime and the perpetrators thereof and to identify data, which may be used as evidence in a criminal case. Employees of the Service may not participate in the case as witnesses. Trials for offenses committed by members of the Service are organized by military courts.
