Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abduhakimov offered to introduce compulsory health insurance in Uzbekistan, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
“It would be good if compulsory health insurance was introduced,” said Deputy Prime Minister at a plenary session of the Senate.
At the same time, he says, the country will gradually move to private medicine. “Almost 90% of medical services abroad are provided by the private sector. I am not saying Uzbekistan should have the same percentage, though,” he added.
According to Mr. Abduhakimov, it is necessary to adapt the world experience in compulsory health insurance to the conditions of the country. He said that large amounts of funds are being allocated annually from the state budget to provide free medical care to the population.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Health is planning to develop a draft law “On medical insurance”. The law envisages compulsory health insurance coverage for the people of the country.
It provides people with equal rights for medical and preventive services, as well as guaranteeing high-quality medical care on a paid basis in accordance with the insurance policy.
