World Bank and Korea Telecom to improve the transportation system in Tashkent
Representatives of the World Bank and the South Korean company Korea Telecom proposed to improve the transport network system in Tashkent and to introduce a cashless payment system for traveling in the metropolitan and public buses, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
At a meeting with the World Bank experts on transportation, issues of attracting foreign investments for the conduction of a pre-project survey and other relevant issues were discussed.
“The Korean company Korea Telecom proposes to introduce an automated system of payment for public transports in Tashkent. This will allow passengers to avoid using cash while traveling by bus, metro and taxi,” the press service of the Tashkent city administration said.
Representatives of Korea Telecom noted that the company has implemented this system in almost all cities of South Korea.
As part of the project, they are ready to provide Tashkent with points of sale, to create multi-use card replenishment points, as well as information processing centers.
