Russia, Uzbekistan to work out calculations in national currencies as part of a pilot project
Developing mutual trade and increasing trade turnover by $ 1 billion - such plans are set by Russia and Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation Council said.
The parliamentarians of both countries discussed bilateral cooperation at the negotiations in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia. Valentina Matviyenko accepted the invitation of her colleagues to pay an official visit to Tashkent. It is expected to take place next year.
The parties at the meeting, signed around 800 agreements, whose total value is over $ 27 billion. It was decided to build about 80 joint ventures and 20 wholesale distribution centers in Uzbekistan.
“Business prospers where conditions are created and where it is treated with respect. Of course, the special nature of trust in the relationship between the leaders of our countries is such a good basis for moving forward in a powerful way,” the speaker of the Federation Council said.
“We also need to address the untapped potential of cooperation - drastically increase and diversify the trade. That’s why the heads of our states consider it necessary to bring this figure up to 10 billion. We believe that this task involves not only relevant ministries and departments, but also us, parliamentarians,” Nigmatilla Yuldashev, the head of the Senate of Uzbekistan noted.
The parliamentarians discussed the results of the regional forum at the meeting of Uzbek-Russian inter-parliamentary commission. In their opinion, the forum has stimulated the development of digital technologies, tourism, inter-parliamentary cooperation and many other more. Recently, 14 high-ranked officials of Uzbekistan visited 6 Russian regions.
“Cooperation with the Russian Federation is a top priority of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy. Uzbekistan highly appreciates the support of the Russian leadership,” Sadik Safayev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate said.
