Abdusalom Azizov received the US military delegation
On November 8, Defense Minister Major General Abdusalom Azizov received a military delegation led by Colin F. Jackson, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense of the USA for Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Central Asia, press service of the Ministry of Defense said.
Colin Jackson was accompanied by newly appointed US Ambassador to Uzbekistan Daniel Rosenblum.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss the current state and prospects of international military cooperation between the two defense ministries.
The Uzbek side pays special attention to the agreements between the Uzbek and American defense agencies on military and military-technical matters, as well as topical security issues in the region.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, the eradication of international terrorism and the maintenance of peace in Central Asia.
It should be noted that Uzbekistan supports all efforts for peace and security in the neighboring Afghanistan, which has a significant impact on the stability and development of the region.
“The United States is a trusted, long-term partner, and our friendship and relationships are constantly moving forward. Establishing stronger ties with a powerful country like the USA will undoubtedly have a positive effect on raising the combat readiness of our army,” said Abdusalom Azizov.
After a meeting with the Uzbek Defense Minister, the US delegation visited the Academy of Armed Forces.
It should be noted that the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the USA in May 2018 brought the bilateral relations to a new level and started a new strategic partnership between our countries.
