Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan increased bilateral trade by 50% in 2018
On November 15, 2018, a regular round of Uzbek-Kyrgyz inter-MFA political consultations was held in Bishkek.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova conducted a thorough review of the current state and prospects of strengthening bilateral relations, and exchanged views on topical issues of interaction within international and regional organizations.
The sides paid special attention to the agenda of the upcoming contacts at the highest level, which are expected to serve as key components of the dynamic development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Mr. Akhatov and Ms. Kemelova noted with satisfaction the gradual growth of bilateral trade, which in 2018 has increased by almost 50% compared to the same period last year.
The first meeting of the Council of khokims of the border regions of Uzbekistan and plenipotentiary representatives of the Government of Kyrgyzstan allowed to intensify bilateral ties in trade-economic, investment, transport-communication, cultural, humanitarian and other areas. The second meeting is scheduled for December this year.
